Who is your “person”?

While watching the Grey’s rerun on Lifetime Sunday, “Drowning on Dry Land,” I was reminded of the importance of having a “person” – someone to share your deep, dark secrets with, to vent on when the boss is getting on your nerves or when you just can’t take life (in general) anymore.

In the episode, McDreamy pulls Meredith out of the water at the ferryboat crash; and prior to that Cristina and Burke get in a tiff because she wanted to tell Meredith first about the news of their engagement.

All because Meredith is her “person.”

A “person” is mentioned prior to that as well, when Cristina has to have a “person” to go with her when she wants to “take care of” her pregnancy.

I have a “person,” Cheril, who has over the last few months become my best friend, which are pretty hard to come by these days. She keeps all my secrets, listens to all my gripes and generally lets me be my sometimes annoying, sometimes crazy self.

And she, likewise, shares her secrets and craziness with me.

I am sooo glad I have a “person.” Do you?

Oh, McBaby?!

They’re not even filming yet, and already a few rumors are leaking out about Grey’s Season 5.

According to TV Guide Columnist Michael Ausiello, “someone may be preggers — and THAT someone shared a red-hot smooch in the finale!”
picapp.com

The mind can only reel about that one – some say its Callie, others (as in me) thinks it could be Meredith. Either one would make sense to me, but it seems if Callie were expecting (probably with McSteamy’s baby) that would complicate things with the prospective Callie-Hahn relationship (and makes things a bit more exciting for the viewers to watch).

Meredith, though, did present her own family plans with McDreamy in the end of Season 4, so maybe it could be them. But, really, MerDer still have things to overcome in their relationship and a pregnancy might push Meredith over the edge.

That’s all just my opinion, of course. I realize I could be wrong completely (but it sure is fun guessing). I’d love to hear what you think!

P.S. Former Grey’s co-stars Isaiah Washington and Kate Walsh spoke about the Heigl controversy on Entertainment Tonight recently.

Washington said he spoke with Grey’s creator and executive producer Shonda Rhimes to offer his help and support.

Walsh didn’t address the Heigl situation directly, but had praise for the writers on her Grey’s spinoff, Private Practice.

Grey’s Week in Review: News, Notes and Tidbits

The biggest Grey’s news of the past week was, of course, Katherine Heigl’s Emmy nomination revocation and badmouthing the show’s writers. I won’t beat this almost-dead horse too much, but it seems this all may be a ruse to get off the show. Heigl’s contract shows her last season to be 2009-10. I’m not thinking she’ll make it that long.

  • It seems writers are hard at work preparing for season five, which begins filming June 25. In particular, they are doing their homework on the proper way to present the lesbian storyline of characters Callie and Hahn.
  • Before heading to the set, Patrick Dempsey has remained busy on the racetrack. He was also recently named to the Forbes 100 Most Powerful Celebrities list – ranking somewhere in the 80’s.

  • Eric Dane and his spouse Rebecca Gayheart took a last minute vacay last week, enjoying the sun and surf during a getaway on St. Barts.

Grey’s Profile: Patrick Dempsey

Happy Father’s Day!

Who more appropriate to feature on this day celebrating kings of their castles than Dr. McDreamy/Patrick Dempsey himself.

picapp.com

Dempsey, of course, won my tv drama loving heart from the first episode of Grey’s and continues to win heart of us ladies all over the world through his hit movies like “Enchanted” and “Made of Honor.”

Dempsey also recently made the news this weekend - being named No. 84 of Forbes Top 100 Most Powerful Celebrities.

Bio:

Patrick Galen Dempsey was born Jan. 13, 1966 in Lewiston, Maine and grew up in Turner, Maine, the youngest of three children born to Amanda and William Dempsey, an insurance agent. Dempsey attended St. Dominic Regional High School for his senior year, where his mother worked as a secretary, but dropped out before he graduated. Dempsey also spent some of his school years in the town of Buckfield, Maine, where he attended Buckfield High School.

Dempsey has been married twice. In 1987, he married actress and acting coach Rochelle “Rocky” Parker, who appeared with Dempsey in the film “In the Mood”. At the time of their marriage, Dempsey was 21 years old, while Parker was 48, with a son, Corey Parker, who was one year Dempsey’s senior. The couple divorced in 1994. On July 31, 1999, Dempsey married Jillian Fink, a Connecticut resident and founder of Delux Beauty. The couple has three children: a daughter, Tallulah Fyfe, born Feb. 20, 2002, and twin sons Darby Galen and Sullivan Patrick, born on Feb. 1, 2007.

Dempsey enjoys auto racing in his spare time, having driven the pace car in the Indianapolis 500, and raced in the Rolex 24 at Daytona and Tecate SCORE Baja 1000. He is currently the co-owner of IndyCar Series team Vison Racing. In 2008 he will be competing in 5 of the 12 Rolex Sports Car Series racing series races.

In 1997, Dempsey’s mother was diagnosed with ovarian cancer. She would be treated for the disease and have two relapses and have it treated another two times. In response to his mother’s bouts with cancer, Dempsey helped start the Patrick Dempsey Center in his home town of  Lewsiton, Maine

Trivia:

  • As a teen, Dempsey was an adept juggler, tying for second in a national juggling competition.
  • Enjoys collecting antiques, remodeling homes, and skiing in his spare time.
  • Auditioned for the role of “Dr. Gregory House” on “House M.D. (2004).
  • Voted No. 13 in Elle (France) Magazine’s “15 Sexiest Men” poll (June 2007).
  • Tried out for the role of Duckie in “Pretty in Pink”(1986).
  • Dempsey was diagnosed with dyslexia at age 12. As a result, he is forced to memorize all his lines in order to perform, even for auditions where he was unlikely to get the part.

 Personal Quotes

One day my 3-year-old daughter said, ‘You’re very handsome, Poppy.’ That was the best compliment ever.”

Grey’s Week in Review

Grey’s isn’t making many headlines since the conclusion of season four, but here’s a “week in review” of sorts about what you might have missed over the past week…

  • Katherine Heigel is in the midst of making her next romantic comedy, The Ugly Truth. It’s due out in 2009.
  • Patrick Dempsey, whose movie Made of Honor is still on the big screen, is spending his off-the-set time on the racetrack. Dempsey drove the Cask No. 16 car in the GT class at Saturday’s Sahlen’s Six Hours of the Glen Grand-Am Rolex Sports Car Series race at Watkins Glen International in New York. He also made an appearance at a cancer fundraiser, donating a signed racing suit to the cause.
  • Chandra Wilson and Private Practice’s Tim Daly were named 2008 Lee National Denim Day Ambassadors. As part of the United States’ largest single-day fundraiser for breast cancer, Wilson and Daly have been named this year’s Lee National Denim Day (Oct. 3) Ambassadors. The two will be featured in a public service campaign encouraging viewers to put on a favorite pair of jeans and make a $5 donation to women’s cancer programs.
  • Private Practice’s Kate Walsh showed her support for a cause as well, calling Barak Obama’s Democratic nomination “a great movement in American history.”
  • T.R. Knight told media that he had no plans to marry his significant other, 19-year-old Mark Cornelson, and took the time to defend the age gap in the relationship. Knight is 35.

Personality Quiz: A Reflection

In the midst of my Grey’s Anatomy withdrawals and boredom, I decided to take the Grey’s Personality Quiz to determine which Anatomy chick I was most like.

Knowing full well that the quiz was just a fun tidbit posted by the site’s web gurus, I was still kind of shocked to discover that I was most like Izzie Stevens.

picapp.com

And that really made me think about things. I guess I am a bit like Izzie. I do find myself at times being controlled by my emotions (but never to the point where I risk my career), and oddly enough, I do like to bake (but not to Izzie’s extreme).

Really, I always related most to Meredith — feeling so messed up by the past that I am afraid to take those big leaps in life and love.

But I do have hope about how my life will turn out. Both Izzie and Meredith took some major leaps in the Season 4 finale. Izzie got the keys to the clinic, and Meredith got McDreamy. I’m still waiting for mine.

Music of Grey’s
Luck? Or hard work?
From a distance, Ingrid Michaelson’s story has an unlikely plot: unknown musician posts some songs on her MySpace page; a music licensing agent is hooked and gets her music featured prominently on “Grey’s Anatomy” Click Here to ‘Tune in Tuesday’ with Jeffrey Lee Pucket.

A Grey’s Autobiography

While I’m supposed to write Grey’s news and such, there’s not much really going on right now. So I’ll take a pause and present my own “Anatomy” history.
I remember the first time I watched Grey’s. I had seen the previews on ABC and had been intrigued by it. Medical dramas always seem to fascinate me; and adding young, struggling professionals trying to make it in a dog-eat-dog world really gets me where I am.
I was sitting at home that Sunday evening flipping channels and trying to forget that I had to work the next day when I ran across the pilot episode and decided to give it a try.
I have been hooked ever since.
I faithfully each Sunday made sure I was at my place (after visiting family for the weekend), seated on the couch waiting for the drama to begin.
I remember my first mouth-dropping moment – the final episode of Season 1 when Addison tells Meredith, “You must be the one who’s sleeping with my husband” (or something to that effect).
It always irks me when they leave a show like that, but it also intrigues me, which is, I’m sure the intent of the season-ending shocker.
When season two begins, I am one again planted in front of the set on Sunday nights making by way through the Izzie-Denny storyline and the continued Meredith-Derek-Addison triangle. And what an emotional finale that was! The love scene with Meredith and Derek at the prom was deemed one of the hottest ever by Cosmo (I agree).
While waiting for Season 3 and for Season 2 on DVD, I become anxious to find a Grey’s buddy. So on a visit with my sister, I take my Grey’s Season 1 DVD and propose a marathon.
Now my sister is almost as hooked as I am, and a Private Practice fan too. To catch up on the show, she would borrow my DVD’s. Now, she has TiVo and we are able to talk Grey’s when the mood strikes.
In season three, I am frustrated by the show’s move to Thursday (at the same time as another favorite show, CSI). My attempt to make the sacrifice and watch Grey’s is thwarted, so I eagerly await the arrival of the DVD and catch up that way.
Now, the process continues. I am once again waiting for another season to begin and saving up for Season 4 on DVD — all while looking for fun news and facts to share with my fellow fans on everythinggreys.
