Mary Rainwater, an East Texas native, currently resides in Palestine, Texas with her cat Squeaks. After graduating from Malakoff High School, she attended East Texas Baptist University in Marshall for three years. She then transferred to the University of Texas at Tyler, where she earned a Bachelor of Arts in Journalism with a minor in Business. Mary got her start in the newspaper business as a reporter for The Monitor in Mabank, Texas, where she worked for 18 months before making Palestine her home. During her over 7-year career at the Palestine Herald-Press, Mary has earned three Texas Associated Press Managing Editor (APME) awards for feature and headline writing. She was recently promoted to copy editor, continuing to write and take photos in addition to her pagination duties.

In her free time, Mary enjoys watching movies, cooking, visiting family and friends and of course, never misses (if she can help it) an episode of Grey’s Anatomy.
