The Fans Have Spoken

The entertainment world continues to reel over Katherine Heigl’s withdrawal from the Emmy nominations. It seems fans are in an uproar over her actions as well.

In response to the many Grey’s blogs out there, I see a lot of words like “big head”, “selfish” and that, in general, she should have just kept her mouth shut.

I also read that in past seasons of Grey’s, Izzie was given plenty of spotlight (Denny Duckett, for instance) and that the other characters needed some priority on the show.

I totally agree.

Heigl’s television and film successes seem to have made her head explode and I feel that she is walking a very fine line. (Would she have had all that film success without Grey’s?)

I don’t know much about the television industry, but I know that publicly insulting writers can’t be a good thing. If she continues on this path, she could turn into one of those “good actors that no one wants to work with.”

This whole seemingly babyish attitude seems to have opened my eyes to Katherine Heigl as an actress. I have to wonder how much longer she will last…

See. I’m one of those fans that doesn’t see what she did as babyish or divaish, another word I’ve seen used to describe her pulling out. I see it as her giving others a chance because as much as I love Grey’s, Izzie didn’t do much this year, and the show as a whole wasn’t up to the standard it had set in the first few seasons. That isn’t their fault though. The strike screwed everyone this year.

I know the strike effected actors this year, but what Heigl decided to do was just plain stupid. Why would you refuse a nomination? And when did the Emmy’s get so much “integrity”? She has just totally gotten a big head and put her foot in her mouth-again. It’s pretty hilarious.
