WOW! “Freedom”

The mind reels with all the happenings on the much-anticipated two-hour Grey’s finale tonight. All the conflict, all the revelations, all the love and … WOW! ALL THE KISSES.

Let’s see…Karev and Izzie…McSteamy and Callie…Callie and Hahn…our two brain tumor-ridden guest stars…concrete man and Lola…the peck by George on Lexi….the Chief and Adelle…and, of course, the long-awaited kiss of Meredith and Derek!

A few of my suspicions were true…I was tipped off on the official Grey’s writer’s blog to watch the champagne bottle, which let me to believe Meredith and Derek’s clinical trial would see a success. It did, but only after it sadly, but sweetly, split the much-in-love brain-tumor couple.

How sweet it was for Meredith and Derek to allow the couple some time together. And to see the emotional roller coaster the clinical trial’s failures put on MerDer — a roller coaster that certainly led them both where they needed to be.

I’m not sure McDreamy should have left Meredith alone in their luminary house-plan, though — she has abandonment issues after all. Even if she is cured, as she seems to be for the most part, I don’t think its a good idea to leave Meredith to her thoughts for too long. I will try to remain optimistic though. Wait there, Meredith.

I slightly suspected the Callie-Hahn thing…if for nothing else but the shock factor. But for me it was seeing McSteamy let Callie go — that he was smart enough to see what was going on, and that he showed a little dignity in the end. I hope to see him continue his quest to change in season five

I was pleased to see George with a backbone and I could not help but notice Lexi’s little crush that motivated her to help poor George out. (Is something developing there? We’ll see.) We’re all cheering for you, George. Study hard for that intern exam.

We got more insight into Alex tonight. Why he wanted to take care of Ava/Rebecca, why he fought Izzy to care of her and the sad realization that he could not help her alone. To see the tears in his eyes, to see the humbled, sympathetic look on his face when he begged Izzy “just tonight.” OH MY!

I have enjoyed watching Dr. Stevens develop into a great doctor and I was proud to see Dr. Bailey give her the keys to the clinic. It was a great moment for both Izzie and Miranda.

I am so pulling for Miranda to make it all work. I am glad she saw the big picture and wants to keep her family together.

Bailey and Miranda had to deal with somewhat similar issues tonight. To decide if they really want that personal life along with the career and to take their respective leaps and do so.

As Meredith (sort of) mentioned, relationships are what truly make us extraordinary people. Without those great loves, without all that support at home from the people pushing us on, we really do have nothing to show for our lives. Those people are what matters…That’s a great lesson we all should keep close to heart.

Although, the season has ended, there will be plenty more to chat about in the next few months. I know I have more insights on season four to share; I just have to sort them out in my mind.
