Are You Ready?

The Grey’s Anatomy season four finale is just hours away and I myself am working my way through the hours to 8 p.m. CST when I can send the rest of the world away and see what will be going down tonight.

Here’s what I’ll be doing in the mean time:

• Still rejoicing that my choice for American Idol, David Cook, walked away the winner Wednesday. And I’ll be thinking, “Without me, he would have won by only 11,999,999 votes. Wow.”
• Visiting the official Grey’s site for any last-minute previews and tidbits. There are a few new “Ask Grey’s Anatomy” segments there; and did you know a post-finale special will be posted on the site Friday? I’ll be checking that out and offering my take.
• Contemplating what really will happen tonight on the show for the hundredth time. The most prominent questions in my mind being, “Will McDreamy and Meredith get a happily ever after?” and of course “What’s the deal with the concrete man?”
• Wondering what I am going to watch on TV this summer once Grey’s is over. That scares me a little…
• I will, of course, conduct the routine business of the day — story interviews, writing stories and getting ready for the holiday weekend.

All that, with Grey’s remaining ever present in the back of my mind. Until tonight…
